Sandstone Theatre Company is proud to present ‘Mary’s Wedding’ at the Watermark Theatre in North Rustico.
Canadian playwright Stephen Massicotte describes his play as “a memorial to both the great war and great love.” The events in ‘Mary’s Wedding’ take place in a dream Mary Chalmers has the night before she is to be married. It begins during a thunderstorm where Mary meets Charlie Edwards taking shelter with his horse beside her barn. With innocence and humour, the two discover a charming first love. But the world is collapsing into a brutal war. Together, they attempt to hide their love, galloping through the fields for a place and time where the fierce uncertainties of battle can’t find them.
